The Hay Wain' is an oil painting created in 1821 by English landscape artist, John Constable. It is likely the best known work by Constable, but also one of the most popular English paintings.
The painting was first exhibited in 1821 but didn't garner much recognition, it was then bought in 1824 by John Arrowsmith, a French art detailer. Arrowsmith showcased the painting at the Paris Salon where it was awarded a gold medal.

Whimsies sind im Wesentlichen Puzzleteile, die in einer erkennbaren Form wie einer Blume oder einem Vogel gefertigt sind, und stellen eine historische Verbindung zur viktorianischen Puzzle-Vergangenheit dar. Wie der Name schon sagt, fügten die ursprünglichen viktorianischen Puzzleschneider die einzelnen Teile aus einer Laune heraus hinzu und so entstand der Begriff „launisch“.
