Christmas in July - 2019

I know it seems odd, after all Christmas is in December and we all know that! But Christmas in July is a real ‘thing’. Honestly, and there's not only one version of it but two.

Australia and New Zealand and other southern hemisphere countries have started having a celebration in July linked to Christmas. For these countries Christmas falls in their hottest season of the year and gathering around a large cooked meal indoors just doesn’t seem like fun. Let alone eat it, plus everyone wants to be outdoors enjoying their summer. It’s in their colder months, July being one of them, many have started getting the family together for a traditional Christmas meal. They can enjoy all the usual treats with presents, hot food and drinks and in some locations even enjoy cosy family time in front of a log fire.

But for some of us in the northern hemisphere Christmas in July is also very important. Manufacturers of products loved at Christmas work on their festive product ranges all year round, and we are no exception. It is by far the most important as well as special time of the year for us and a lot of planning goes into ensuring you get the puzzles you want in time for the big day. Once products have been designed, developed and started being produced, we need to start developing all the creative marketing material to make sure you know about them. And this year it was bigger than ever. We’ve had photo shoots and video shoots for all the products and even filmed a new TV Christmas advert.

Here’s just a few of us working hard. I know it doesn’t look like we’re working that hard but the days are long, very long, and on the photo shoot alone the temperature in the studio was well over 35 degrees centigrade. We sympathised and wanted to join our southern hemisphere friends by spending Christmas on the beach!

This year we’ve added Christmas puzzles onto our site early, not all jigsaws are there yet, there’s many more to come yet, but you can see a flavour of the new collection. You may even be tempted to buy a few. We’ve launched it early this year as we know and we get asked for Christmas puzzle earlier every year. We hope you like it.
