National Jigsaw Day
Founded by Wentworth Wooden Puzzles
Sunday 3rd November 2024
What happened on the day?
National Jigsaw Day has been and gone for another year, but we had so much fun on the day and hope you did too! We kicked the day off with an exciting competition, 'Win a Festive Favourite for You and a Friend'. The winner could select a wooden jigsaw puzzle of their choosing from our Christmas Collection and another to have sent to their friend. We then introduced our new Ambassadors' Choice puzzle, Winters Night, a festive wooden jigsaw puzzle for adults with artwork by the talented Reuben Mchugh. This wonderfully wintry wood puzzle features festive whimsies inspired by the intriguing reindeer inspired image. If you love animal jigsaw puzzles or nature jigsaws, this colourful Christmas puzzle is just for you!
At noon we announced our next competition and asked you to guess the number of puzzle pieces in our jar. This jar was a little deceptive and most guesses were quite low, but we crowned our winner, whose guess was just 8 puzzle pieces away from the exact number. Following this, an hour later we introduced some new additions to our collection of Christmas jigsaw puzzles for adults. At 2pm we shared our new Speed Puzzle again, with a reminder of our NJD Speed Puzzle Along that would be happening later.
A few weeks ago we asked puzzlers for their questions so we could asnswer them in our National Jigsaw Day Q&A. We took a walk around Wentworth HQ and asked our team to tell all! at 4pm our Virtual Puzzle Swap opened and we saw puzzlers from around the world sharing stories and swapping snaps of their favourite Wentworth Puzzles. Then the time came to open applications for our 2025 Wentworth Ambassadors. At 6pm our Puzzle Along started and we were joined by puzzlers online completing their own 250 piece puzzles against the clock.
National Jigsaw Day was a success and we're super excited for what next year holds!
What is National Jigsaw Day?
We founded National Jigsaw Day back in 2015 and have celebrated the joy jigsaws bring every year since. The day has grown in popularity and marks an important event on the calendar for puzzle lovers across the world. This year we're celebrating our 10th National Jigsaw Day!
National Jigsaw Day started as a way of encouraging mindfulness during the winter months, enjoying some screen-free fun and escaping from the stresses and strains of everyday life.
Now, it is a day to enjoy all of this and bring the puzzle community together to enjoy a day full of jigsaw joy. This year you can join the puzzle fun on social media and take part in our competitions, virtual puzzle swap, puzzle along and be the first to hear about some exciting announcements. We'll be holding the competitions across multiple platforms so you can join the fun on Instagram or Facebook.
