The Hay Wain' is an oil paiting created in 1821 by English landscape artist, John Constable. It is likely the best known work by Constable, but also one of the most popular English paintings.
The painting was first exhbited in 1821 but didn't garner much recognition, it was then bought in 1824 by John Arrowsmith, a French art detailer. Arrowsmith showcased the painting at the Paris Salon where it was awarded a gold medal.
