Audley End House and Gardens, Essex
Built in the early 17th century for Thomas Howard, 1st Earl of Suffolk, Audley End was one of the greatest houses in England. Although now just a third of its original size, it remains a dazzling example of an English country house, and its fascinating history tells a tale of changing tastes and fluctuating fortunes.
Inside, sumptuous state rooms contain fine collections of antique furniture, Old Master paintings and Victorian taxidermy. The recreated Nursery Suite uncovers the hidden world of upper-class Victorian children, and the sights and sounds within the atmospheric Victorian Service Wing give a unique insight into life ?below stairs? during the 1880s.
The house is surrounded by glorious gardens designed by Robert Adam and Capability Brown. Highlights include a restored formal parterre, a walled organic kitchen garden and the peaceful remains of the riverside Elysian Garden featuring the delightful Tea House Bridge. Other sights include the Victorian stables, the Temple of Concord and a memorial to Second World War Polish resistance soldiers.
This traditional jigsaw puzzle features themed whimsies of the gardens, stables and nursery. It also includes the English Heritage logo.
The logo is not included in the 40 piece puzzle.

- How thick are the puzzle pieces?
All of our puzzles are made from a 4mm thick sustainably sourced wooden composite. - What are whimsy pieces?
Whimsies are essentially a puzzle piece crafted into a recognisable shape such as a flower or bird and are an historical link to the Victorian puzzle-making past. As the name suggests, the original Victorian puzzle cutters added the individual pieces on a whim and so the term ‘whimsy’ was born. - Do all puzzles have whimsy pieces?
Our expert jigsaw designers incorporate whimsy pieces into all of our puzzles, apart from our ‘Extra Difficult’ range. - Where are Wentworth Wooden Puzzles made?
