What is 'Puzzlepation'?
noun:
The anticipation, expectation, excitement and suspense of enjoying, solving and completing a new jigsaw puzzle!
It’s traditional at Christmas to focus on the excitement and anticipation that children delight in at Christmas time, they can’t wait for Santa to arrive to drop off their presents. But here at Wentworth, we know this is the same feeling many adults have once you have placed an order and your new puzzles arrive on the doorstep. You can’t wait to get into the box and see the image, pieces and whimsies. The same can be said if you’ve received one of our hand-designed puzzles as a gift, when you finally reveal the puzzle beneath the wrapping paper and ribbon.
You may have seen in our new Christmas TV advert, Wentworth Puzzles are impossible to resist, and you’ll know that we’ve worked hard to make our puzzles for adults as tempting and tantalizing as possible to complete.
Once you see the box for the first time your mind will start to race, where do I start? You’ll avidly study the image in detail, searching for hidden elements. Should I focus on the border or start with similar colours? You’ll ponder how difficult it will be and how long it will take to complete. What will the whimsies be like? Will there be a coveted Wentworth Whimsy tree in here? And will I get the chance to complete this on my own before someone else tries to solve the puzzle with me?
On opening the box you’ll find our signature plum drawstring bag and you feel the tingle of excitement as the puzzle pieces rattle inside. As you pick it up and pull the drawstring, revealing your new puzzle inside, you can’t help but reach in, feel the thick wooden pieces between your fingers and search for the whimsies as a clue on how to complete this puzzle.
Maybe you were meant to keep this puzzle for later, but, before you know it, you’ve poured all of the pieces onto the coffee table, about to start.
When we did puzzles as children, it was about having fun and feeling a sense of achievement, while unknowingly developing essential problem-solving and hand-eye co-ordination skills.
However, as we revisit jigsaw puzzles as adults, we find that they are still fulfilling and fun, but the joy really comes from immersing in the details and journey of completing a puzzle. Especially from a mindfulness perspective where we look, listen and become present in the moment. A big part of mindfulness is paying attention to your senses, and you’ll find that a wooden jigsaw puzzle is an extra special treat.
Probably the most notable quality characteristic of one of our puzzles is the distinct and immensely satisfying click, click, click as you slot the wooden puzzle pieces into place. Especially when it’s a fun whimsy piece you’ve been hunting for!
Then once it’s complete, take some great pictures for posterity, and maybe share them around, proud of your puzzle-solving skills and the enjoyment it has brought you.
We’ve tried to pick the most beautiful and vibrant designs for our puzzles, in a wide variety – so whoever you are, and whatever your tastes, we know you’ll be full of 'puzzlepation' when the doorbell rings and your puzzle delivery is passed to you. Happy Puzzling!
