Born in Philadelphia, Bill Bell is entirely self-taught and took up painting as his full-time career in 1982, after first being a musician and record company executive.
Working in acrylics, he creates bright, richly detailed, enigmatic, and complex scenes. Bell adds that he paints "nostalgia and nonsense"-"nostalgia for the world that used to be and nonsense for the world of my dreams."
