While creating our puzzle collections, we are fortunate to collaborate with talented artists like Dominic Davison. How would you describe your art?
My art is created by composition, with some added digital painting. Mostly featuring rural and city environments. Ranging from English cottage scenes to Venetian waterways.
Where do you draw inspiration from?
Always from nature and wildlife, observing the amazing flora and fauna in the natural world, the changing seasons, colours and weather.
Do you have any ‘signature’ techniques, styles or processes that we should look out for in your art?
My signature style is I suppose realism with a painted feel, at the same time. I always feature a certain animal in all of my outdoor scenes, I will let the puzzler work out what it is.
How do you feel about your art being made into wooden jigsaw puzzles?
Seeing my art featured on a puzzle, or any product, is the most rewarding part of what I do. Especially when it's on display in a shop, or in a jigsaw contest. It makes all the hard work worth it.
Do you ever complete a wooden puzzle yourself?
I have actually finished several puzzles, including some Wentworth puzzles. I also like the diamond art puzzles.
As an artist what do you feel makes a good jigsaw puzzle image?
A cow standing in the distance on a vast green field under a big blue sky. The opposite of that! The three elements previously mentioned (Colorful, Interesting, Detailed ) probably sum it up best.
