We work closely with all our partners to ensure we maintain our strict production standards and continue to manufacture the finest quality puzzles for adults and children. We’re so close that we can even pinpoint the exact forests the wood used for our puzzles comes from and identify the types of trees used, including Birch, Pine, and Eucalyptus.
Our Whimsy Pieces Are a Nod to History
Did you know that our iconic "whimsy pieces" have roots in the Victorian era? These uniquely shaped puzzle pieces - designed to match the theme of our English jigsaw puzzles - pay homage to the early days of wooden puzzles when puzzle designers would add recognisable shapes as puzzle pieces on a “whim.”
Now, most of our adult jigsaw puzzles feature these fun pieces. However, our range of hard puzzles with repetitive pieces does not. Instead, you’ll discover rows of tricky, tessellated pieces that make these masterful designs some of the most challenging jigsaw puzzles for adults in our collection.
If you’ve spotted a puzzle with whimsies that you like, you can enjoy it in multiple sizes, ensuring you find a puzzle you love with a piece count that suits you. And, unlike cardboard puzzles, one image doesn’t mean just one size - our jigsaw puzzles for adults are available in up to nine standard sizes, ranging from 40 to 1,500 pieces.

Our English jigsaw puzzles are crafted in our factory in the heart of the British countryside, ensuring they travel only as far as necessary to reach you. Unlike puzzles manufactured overseas and shipped long distances, ours begin their journey with our dedicated team at Wentworth HQ and travel straight to you - it’s that simple! We're proud to keep our production close to home, minimising air miles and reducing our impact on the environment.
Plus, our packaging is entirely plastic-free, from our premium puzzle boxes and plum cotton puzzle bags to our recyclable cardboard boxes and paper-only packaging that arrives at your door!
With the help of our customers we also have over over 71, 850 trees in our Wentworth Puzzle Forest. 2025 marked our fifth year of working with Ecologi to plant trees and reduce our environmental impact, helping to restore ecosystems and protect our planet for future generations.

Our hard puzzles are becoming increasingly popular. So, to help keep puzzle pros on their toes, we set about crafting even more challenging jigsaw for adults. In 2024, we introduced two new daringly difficult puzzle cuts: our Free Form and Vine Cut puzzles.
Our difficult puzzles made using our Free Form puzzle cut are characterized by their unique and unconventional shapes, inspired by classic puzzle cuts from the early 20th century. Featuring themed whimsies crafted to match the image. These difficult jigsaw puzzles are perfect for puzzle lovers looking to indulge in a longer, more fiendish puzzle experience.
The Vine puzzle cut is a true test of patience and is as perplexing as it is enjoyable. Designed with challenging curly, spiral-shaped pieces and themed whimsies, these really hard jigsaw puzzles offer a decidedly difficult puzzle experience that is sure to have your head spinning.

We Make Custom Jigsaw Puzzles
Did you know you can have a wooden jigsaw puzzle made using your own photo? We make wooden photo puzzles, and you can select a whimsy design to suit your image or create a custom puzzle with message pieces such as "Happy Birthday," "Merry Christmas," and "Happy Anniversary." Our custom-made jigsaws are the perfect puzzle gifts for all occasions.
Most of our photo jigsaw puzzles are available in multiple sizes so you can choose a puzzle size that suits you or your recipient, whether you prefer our 250, 500 or 1000 piece puzzles.
If you’re a fan of art puzzles you can even create your own custom wooden puzzle with your favourite fine art image from our Wentworth Gallery and select a puzzle cut to suit your preference. We currently have three puzzle cuts to choose from, including extra difficult designs, whimsies, or ‘Happy Birthday’ message pieces, to help make this puzzle masterpiece even more special.
Planet-friendly FSC-certified catalogues
Our catalogues are made using FSC-certified paper, which means that the paper used to produce them has been sourced from forests that are responsibly managed. This ensures that the forests are managed in a way that protects wildlife, preserves biodiversity, reduces environmental impact and supports the livelihoods of employees. So, you can feel good about sitting back, relaxing and browsing our newest range of sustainably made wooden puzzles in our FSC-certified catalogues.
The paper for our catalogues is also carbon balanced. “Carbon balanced” paper means that the emissions created in making that paper have been measured, reduced where possible, and then offset, through certified environmental projects, which is often through reforestation or forest conservation projects.

We Switched From 3 to 4mm Wood
You asked, and we listened! After receiving feedback about the thickness of our puzzles, we decided in 2022 to switch from 3mm to 4mm wood. While it may not sound like a big change, it meant our puzzles became one-third thicker. And, due to the premium wooden board we use, our puzzle pieces are heavier, more durable, and more substantial, fitting together with a snug and satisfying 'click.'
