This impressive masterpiece by Impressionist artist Manet portrays the opulent bar at the famous Folies-Bergere nightclub in Paris. The waitress is seen with a very unusual perspective to allow the gentleman she is speaking to be visible within the painting. It has fuelled many debates over the years between scholars. The detailed nature and composition of the bar plus the crowded seated area reflected in the mirror make this a challenging jigsaw puzzle to complete for any adult jigsaw enthusiasts. The brush strokes are visible in Manet’s painting style, allowing the puzzler to appreciation every last detail as the pieces fall into place. Painted in 1882 it is considered to be the last major work by Manet and is currently exhibited in the Courtauld Gallery in London. akg-images.
