Turner and the Sea Exhibition

The National Maritime museum is hosting an exhibition on famous British artist, J.M.W. Turner running from November 2013 to April 2014. Among the paintings on display is The Fighting Temeraire, voted the nation’s favourite painting.

This eponymous ship sailed in the Napoleonic wars and the painting is intended, by Turner, to show the end of an era. The ship sails towards its final resting place and a symbolically setting sun.
